Methods used for Driving Traffic
By KerieDean Holland held a bonus webinar as part of the Traffic Tanks Module (SWM), his guest was Adam Spiel of ProHostManagement. In my opinion this was one of the most interesting and truthful webinar I have heard. All along Dean has been saying we must treat our online business as a proper business, it requires work especially at the beginning. Too many people think that they can create an online business that is automated completely and that they can sit on the beach sipping cocktails. Now there is nothing wrong with that if you have already put in the hard graft of creating your blogs etc and set them to automatically post whilst you away.
If you are going to make a success online you need to position yourself as an expert. You need to use social media, blogs and websites.
But you must remember the following techniques and their uses ….. Do not confuse them!!!!
- Social Media – Introduce your self (Do not Sell, as you will be seen as a spammer)
- Blog – Educate your follows (People always looking for solutions to problems)
- Website – Sell your product (One successful business man said to me never sell yourself short)
3 Steps to Positioning yourself as an Expert
-
Figure out what people you what to attract – and what they want to know (For example what will your niche be)
-
Give them the information
-
Once you’ve earned the right, then tell them about you.
Write articles
One of the best ways to position yourself as an expert is to write articles, but where do we place these articles and how will it help drive traffic? Adam Spiel recommends the following 3 places:
-
Squidoo- Make sure you include pictures and video, bio with a picture, url with keywoods linking back to your blog. Ideal length 800 words.
-
Hub Pages- Url with keywords, Profile picture, keywords in the title and article. Ideal length 1500 words. Unique content.
-
Ezine articles – Keywords in title and article. Use the resource box to put in links with keywords as anchor text. Ideal length 400 -500 words. Can copy from your blog.
What are you going to write about?
Now this is the section I find difficult. It was recommended that the 30 Question formula be used.
-
Think of 30 questions (What does your niche want to know)
-
Come up with 30 great headlines with keywords i.e 7 tips to great traffic, 12 plugins you can’t live without.
-
Write 30 articles answering these questions include pictures and videos.
Do’s and Don’ts of Article Writing
Do
-
Keyword reseacrh
-
Write great stuff
-
Include pictures, video and other valuable content.
-
Follow the rules of the website / community
-
Social bookmark and ping (www.pingler.com will ping your domain for you)
-
Deep link – you don’t want all your backlinks going to your homepage.
Don’t
-
Spam
-
Duplicate content
My forthcoming action list
-
Sign up with squidoo, hub pages, ezine, you tube, social bookmarker and pingler.
-
Key word research with www.goodkeywords.com
-
Think of thirty questions
-
Answer those questions with great headlines.
-
Attempt my first video
Wish me luck!

Hey Kerie, nice review and very concise. There’s a LOT to be done to run a successful online business but when it’s broken down into chunks of tasks gets much easier.
Best of luck!

Hi Kerie,
I have try to submit 1 articles to EzineArticles.com, but no luck. It always rejected because of wrong spelling and grammar.
But I have check it numerous times and nothing is wrong.
I wrote about XBOX 360 and when it scan with EzineArticles spelling checker, the word “XBOX” is highlighted red. I still don’t know how to replace word “XBOX” with.
Maybe I will try to write something else and try to submit again.
Thanks Kerie for your valuable post.

Hey Kerie,
Thank you SO much for that post. I haven’t had a chance to listen to the Adam Spiel call but I will do so soon based on your post. And the way you have written it makes it easy to read and straight to the point.
Too much writing on the page can be a real turn off to a reader. Oh, and I never find out which movie that quote was from (twitter), but I have heard it. Enlighten me please.

Hey Andy
Glad that my post helped you. Not sure which quote but one was from Ave Venture and the other from Back to the future.
